Toronto Moving Company

Happy's Moving & Storage runs long-distance moves between Toronto and eastern Ontario as a regular part of our week. We handle the whole job with one crew and one flat price — your things are loaded in Toronto and unloaded by the same people at the other end, which is exactly what you don't get when a big carrier consolidates your load onto a shared trailer.

  • Flat, not hourly Pricing

One crew, one truck, one price — from load to delivery

The standard long-haul model works like freight: your belongings get loaded onto a shared trailer with other people's, and delivery lands inside a multi-day window that can slide. It's cheaper to operate, which is why it's common, and it's why long-distance horror stories almost always start there.

We don't do that. Your move is loaded by our crew, driven direct, and unloaded by the same crew. You get a real delivery date, one point of contact, and nobody else's furniture touching yours.

Toronto buildings have rules — we work to them

Nearly every Toronto condo and rental tower requires a booked service elevator, a certificate of insurance filed with property management ahead of time, and a loading-bay slot. Downtown adds street-permit questions where there's no bay at all. Miss any of it and you're rescheduling.

Give us the building and the date and we'll work through that checklist with you before moving day, not on it. We're equipped for moves of any size, from a Liberty Village one-bedroom to a full house in Etobicoke.

Leaving Toronto for eastern Ontario

A big share of this route is people leaving the city — remote workers, young families and retirees trading a Toronto mortgage for a house with land in the Ottawa Valley, Renfrew County or the Ottawa suburbs. The move is long, and the day is already emotional enough without a moving company adding to it.

We quote it flat so the number doesn't move, load in Toronto, and deliver east on the agreed day. If your closing dates don't line up, our storage bridges the gap and we deliver when you have keys.

What a flat Toronto quote actually covers

Hourly pricing on a long-distance move punishes you for traffic, weather and stairs — none of which you control. Flat pricing puts that risk on us, where it belongs.

Your quote covers the labour at both ends, the drive, and the protection: blankets on the furniture, wrap on the upholstery, floor protection through the halls. Packing and unpacking, boxes and supplies, and storage are available on top if you want them — quoted up front, never sprung on you.

Moving to Toronto: A Practical Guide

Moving to Toronto is less about the drive and more about the building. The single biggest difference from a smaller city is that most Toronto addresses come with rules — a booked service elevator, a certificate of insurance filed in advance, a reserved loading bay — and a crew that arrives without them can be sent away.

Toronto moving FAQs

Do you really drive between Toronto and Ottawa for a single move?

Yes — it's a scheduled corridor for us, not an exception. Because we run it regularly we can quote it flat and keep it well under what a franchise charges for the same distance.

How long does a Toronto to Ottawa move take?

The drive is roughly 450 km and about four and a half to five hours in normal conditions. Most moves load in the morning and deliver the same day; larger homes are sometimes loaded one day and delivered the next, and we tell you which up front.

Will my things be put on a truck with other people’s?

No. Your load stays yours from the moment it goes on until it comes off. That is the single biggest difference between us and a consolidated long-haul carrier, and it is why deliveries actually land when we say they will.

Can you store my things if my Toronto and Ottawa dates don’t match?

Yes. We load once, store securely for as long as the gap lasts — days or months — and deliver on the day you take possession. It's far cheaper than paying two crews and much easier than living between two places.
